Duties:
Role:
A Recovery Resolutions Assistant works to achieve the Credit Union's mission and member promise statements by preserving Credit Union assets through financial counseling and coaching of members and providing assistance to department and delinquency committee team members.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Handle inbound collection calls and inquiries; answering basic questions from members and employees about past due and charged off accounts.
- Request and process past due payments via electronic payment platforms. Post recovery payments and member payment agreements.
- Work the Credit Union negative account queue; ensuring proper communication, processing, and reporting are completed within the required timelines. Process account blocks and related charge-offs. Compile and prepare monthly ODP reports and monitor ODP Repayment Loans for payment and if necessary, process the ODP repayment loan charge-offs in accordance with Credit Union policy and/or procedure.
- Recoveries account monitoring & balancing; monitor and post payments deposited into the Credit Union’s recoveries account. Ensure all payments are properly documented and the recoveries account is balanced at the end of each business day. (i.e., recovery payment tracking, attorney recovery payments tracking).
- GL Balancing: balance all GL accounts related to the Recovery Resolutions department on a weekly basis.
- Charge-off Validation: evaluate charged off loan records to ensure accuracy in communication, processing, and reporting. Develop and publish charge-off ledger cards for future recovery efforts.
- Collection queue assignment: monitor the collection queue daily and assign all newly identified loans in accordance with the past due action procedures, ensuring accounts are consistently and equitably assigned to certified financial counselors.
- Daily reports: monitor daily delinquency reports to evaluate available funds, payment activities, programming errors, delinquency trends, etc. and communicate any pertinent information to the full Recovery Resolutions Team and/or Delinquency Committee.
- Recordkeeping: mail processing and assistance with bankrupt members.
- Handle processes associated with abandon vehicle notices, special administrative projects, as well as overflow work from other Recovery Resolution team members, and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

| 1. | Maximize the collection and/or recovery of Credit Union assets from delinquent and charged-off accounts. |
| 2. | Collect on assigned delinquent accounts in a timely, professional, and compliant manner, ensuring prompt contact with all borrowers regarding re-payment intent and providing solutions and proper notifications. |
| 3. | Resolve member, employee, and third party inquires in an accurate, timely and professional manner, communicating solutions to all necessary parties. |
| 4. | Maintain accurate, complete, and up to date collections files and records, identifying and informing management of potential loan underwriting or collection issues. |
| 5. | Follow established policies and procedures and maintain compliance with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and all relevant regulations, aiding in the development of collection procedures and staying current on changes in collection regulations, policies, procedures, and industry practices. |
| 6. | Provide informed and accurate service and support to all members, employees, and third-party vendors and associates by responding to messages, correspondence, or other communications in a timely and professional manner. |
| 7. | Actively advise members and/or employees on financial wellness strategies and collection processes to achieve or exceed 100% of established individual, department, and AAACU strategic performance goals. |
| 8. | Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with AAACU policies, procedures, and collection activity trends and best practices including associated government rules and regulations. |
Additional Desired Attributes:
Knowledge and Skills:
| Experience | One month to twelve months of similar or related experience. |
| Education | A high school education or GED. |
| Interpersonal Skills | Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication. |
| Other Skills | Financial counselor certification. |
