Job Openings: Financial Education Specialist

Location of Position:Alpena, MI
Salary:$21.76 to $32.64 (based upon experience)
Days:Monday through Friday with some weekends
Hours:40 hours per week with some evening events

Duties:

Role:

Follow the credit union mission and member promise statements. Responsible for developing and implementing education and training programs for credit union members. Educate members about financial management, budgeting, credit scores, loan management, and other related topics, in order to improve their financial literacy and help them achieve their financial goals. Supervise the Alpena High School Wildcat Branch.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    Oversee all functions, activities of, and supervision of Wildcat Branch personnel.
    Develop and deliver financial education programs for credit union members, including seminars, webinars, and workshops.
    Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and partners to promote financial literacy and credit union membership.
    Design educational materials, such as brochures, flyers, and handouts, to support educational programs.
    Provide one-on-one counseling to credit union members who need personalized financial advice and guidance.
    Collaborate with other credit union departments to create and implement financial education initiatives.
    Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Performance Measurements:

1. Engage members in financial education and wellness programs. Measured by tracking the number of members who attend financial education events, sign up for financial counseling sessions, and participate in financial wellness programs.
2. Improve member satisfaction with the credit union's financial education services. Measured through surveys, focus groups, or feedback from members who have received financial education services.
3. Ensure that the financial education programs are effective in achieving objectives. Measured through pre- and post-program assessments, such as quizzes, surveys, or focus groups.
4. Increase the number of members who participate in financial education programs. Measured through tracking the number of members who attend events, sign up for services, and participate in programs.
5. Ensure that all financial education programs comply with state and federal regulations. Compliance is measured by monitoring adherence to regulations, and through periodic audits.
6. Manage the budget for financial education programs effectively. Measured by tracking expenditures against budget, managing program costs, and reducing unnecessary expenses.
7. Collaborate with other departments within the credit union to ensure that financial education programs are aligned with the credit union's overall mission and strategy. Measured by tracking the number of joint initiatives or programs with other departments.

Additional Desired Attributes:

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience.
Education (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
